The Summer Makeup Bag

Building the perfect summer makeup bag makes your summer a great deal easier. As the weather gets better and the layers of jumpers peel off, you feel obliged to shave your legs and probably ought to give yourself a pedicure before you get those toes out. Do you want a heavy face of makeup? Of course you don't. I love feeling as though I barely have anything on my face during the summer (except for my lipstick, of course!). This means choosing products that are light and keep your face looking fresh, clear and, of course, summery.

Let's start with a perfect summer base. The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream (£8.00) is a great choice. This has a good level of coverage, making covering spots easy. Not to mention that the tea tree in this product smells so fresh and uplifting and helps to take redness out of any blemishes. This is has a lovely lightweight feel on the skin and does not leave you feeling as though you have product sitting on your face. A final note on this product is that it lasts well through the day, which is always a plus as I hate having to touch my face up during the day!

I love Makeup Revolution Cream Blush in Rose Cream (£1.50), it is easy to apply with your finger tips and blends beautifully into the skin. It is brilliant for days where you want a natural flush of colour. It does work particularly well with the BB cream together they make your face look natural, clear and radiant.

The Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Run Boy Run (£6.00) is one of the new releases from the brand (full post on these to follow soon!). The shades in here are perfect for summer wear, you have a brilliant selection of 18 shades which will take you from day to night - making it a perfect weekend away companion for a summer break!

Summer means that waterproof mascara is in high demand for me. Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Waterproof Mascara  (£9.99) is one of my favourites at the moment. I always seek out waterproof mascara in the summer as when the heat starts to rack up for some reason my mascara ends up half way down my face. This one is a great formula, it adds a good amount of volume and doesn't crumble or smear down my face.

A new addition to my stash is Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara (£4.99). This is great for taming your brows, due to this being a tinted brow gel it also gives the brows a bit of extra colour and definition. It is super quick to apply and it also keeps my somewhat unruly brows in check all day.

I have spoken about my love for Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick (£8.99) before here. It lasts all day, it doesn't dry the lips out and there is an awesome colour collection suitable for the summer. Look out for OlĂ© Flamingo, a hot fuchsia pink which looks so bright and summery. If you prefer a more muted, low key lip try out Peach Club which still gives the lips a pop of colour but is less in your face.

What are your summer makeup must haves?
