Weekly Wishlist - Home Edition

I've been flicking through home magazines, looking through boards of home inspiration on Pinterest and then looking around the flat and thinking that I want to decorate. When we moved into the flat 18 months ago we were lucky to get most of our furnishings second hand, for free which I did a little DIY to in order to make our own (see this post). Now, I'm wanting to update a few things, perhaps replace some things and give the place a spruce up.

As you know I love a bit of MCM decor and have had to fight with myself walking by the local charity shops when they have had beautiful teak sideboards and dressing tables in the window because we simply do not have space in the flat for them. Sigh. So I've been looking at pretty furnishings online which admittedly are nowhere near as pretty as true MCM pieces, but would be a great way to incorporate a little vintage-inspired style to the home.

As you can see I'm drawn to warm oranges and reds at the moment. I like red and orange together because they are bright yet still harmonious together and work well to create a warm feeling in a room. Even when paired with a grey (like the cushion above) to tone down the whole look and make it a bit calmer there is still a warm, cosy feeling from the colours.

What home items have you been lusting over?

  1. I am so with you on this one - just love oranges and reds. My weakness? Hmm, I guess it's traditional early 20th century wooden furniture, which, sadly, doesn't work in a modern house. Maybe something for my next home? Perhaps. Anyway, just wanted to say that I love your blog. It's really inspirational. Thanks.
