Budget Products to Make Your Makeup Work Harder

Everyone wants to get the most out of their makeup. I have found a handful of products that, when combined with my normal makeup, almost supercharge what I have already. Products that increase longevity, intensify colour and brighten your complexion - oh, and these are all under a tenner.

Increasing Longevity
Two products stand out from the crowd of budget products that I own when it comes to making my makeup last all day. I'll start of with Seventeen Stay Time Long Wear Primer (£5.49). This primer is a budget version of Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer (£24.50), I don't find it lasts just  long as it's Bene counterpart - but at £5.49 it is by far the best budget primer that I have tried out there for increasing longevity of my makeup.
From the beginning of application straight to the end. I love, love, love MUA Pro-Base Fixing Spray (£5.00) it seriously keeps your face in place all day (or night) and is an absolute bargain compared with the other fixing sprays out there. If you haven't tried it yet - please go and grab a bottle because it is fab!

Intensifying Colour
I class this product in increasing longevity too, come to think of it. Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hour Cream Gel Eyeshadow (£4.99) - available in 14 colours (I have quite a few of them) these make brilliant eyeshadow bases. They create a smooth canvass for powder shadow but are well pigmented themselves so when you add more pigment on top, the colour payoff is fab.

Brightening Complexion
If my skin is looking dull or lack-luster I reach for Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter  (£5.99). I don't us this as a primer but I mix a pump or two in with whichever foundation I choose to wear. This adds some luminosity to my complexion and brightens my face up. I have actually mixed some foundation in a travel pump bottle with some of this for quickness in the mornings when I need that extra boost.
If I still need a bit of extra 'oomph' I grab Bourjois Java Rice Powder (£9.99) which I have already fully reviewed here. This fine powder is perfect for boosting your complexion with one quick sweep, I also love how light this feels on the skin.

What products do you reach for to boost your makeup?

  1. Great post, really informative and interesting! I love the Maybelline Color Tattoos, especially the shades On and On Bronze and Permanent Taupe.. they are so pigmented and amazing quality for the price. I really want to try the Bourjois powder and Seventeen Skin Wow highlighter as I love dewy, highlighted skin and have heard so many great things about these products! Lovely photos too by the way :) x
